Choooooch!!!

以前ここコルラで先生してたケベック人（敢えてカナダ人とは呼ばない）が、中国へ来る前にフルムーンパーティーで有名なタイのパンガン島に行ったのですが（パーティ好きとかでもない人なのになぜ行ったのかは不明）、私達も5年前タイの野外パーティに行ってみたくてパンガンへ行った事がありました。当時は在住しているイスラエル人（通称ラエリー）や訪れるバックパッカー（通称パッカー）や地元の若いタイ人を見て、旦那も私もやっぱりヒッピーやヒッピー風、ヒッピー崩れが多い所だなぁと思いました。

そこで、彼に「パンガン行った時、ヒッピーとかそうゆう感じの人見た？」と聞いた所、「いや。全然見なかった。」とあっけなく答えられ、肩すかしを喰らいました。彼曰く、モントリオールでは本物のヒッピーをたくさん見るから、パンガンにいる人達は普通の旅行者にしか見えないとの事。なるほど…。

で、先程最近のフルムーンパーティの写真をネットで見たのですが、言われてみればどこにでもいそうな旅行者にしか見えない。でも、5年前に見た時にはなぜヒッピーと思ったのだろう？皆さんは、どんな人を見て「この人はヒッピー」、「この人は一般人」と思いますか？

::The border line of hippies::
A Quebec guy, who had worked here in Korla, had been to Koh Phangan in Thailand, where is famous for full moon parties, last summer, is before he came here(I don’t know why he went there even he’s not a party people). And we also have been there 5 years ago because we want to go to outdoor parties in Thailand. At that time when we saw some Israeli, who live there, backpackers and local thai young people there, we thought that there are many hippies, hippie-ish and wanna-be hippies.

So I asked him, “Did you see any hippies or kind of people?”, and he answered “No, never.” I was shocked to hear that. And he told me that people in Phangan look normal travelars for him because lots of real hippies in Montreal. Hum…

And on the short time before when I saw some current photos of full moon parties there, I agreed that no hippies there. But I wonder why I thought they looks hippies 5 years ago. What point do you think that they are hippies or general people?
