日本人妻の伝説 The legend of Japanese wives
お久し振りのブログ投稿です。先週から家でもネットが開通したのでたくさんブログが書けると思います♪
さて、今年初のブログはすごいタイトルなんですが、本当なんです！
よくウチの旦那は中国人の人達に「Psymegはいぃねぇ〜。日本人の奥さんと結婚できて。」と言われます。これと同じ台詞、私が韓国から中国へ向かう時のフェリーで出会った酔いどれ韓国人のおっちゃんも言ってたっけ。「日本人の奥さん、ナンバー１！」ですと。そして、昨日はウイグル語を教えてもらってるウイグル人の男の子に言われました。何でも日本人の奥さんは家事はてきぱきこなして、旦那様に従順だと言うのが有名らしいです。いゃ、伝説化してます:)！！これと同じ話をネパール人がしてたのを本で以前読んだ事があります。
ってゆうか、そんな旦那様に三つ指ついて「お帰りなさいませ」な〜んて言う奥さんって戦前の話じゃないですかぁ！ウチの母さんがそんな事してるの、産まれて一度も見た事ないぞ。ウチの婆さんだって微妙なのに…。で、私が「いゃいゃ。今の時代の日本人女性でそんな人は殆ど見かけないんだよ。」と説明しても、「いゃいゃ。日本人の奥さんは世界で一番なんだって！」と、伝説を守り抜きます。ん〜…。日本人妻としてかなりプレッシャーかかります。
この伝説、アジアだけだと思うんですが、アジアのどこまで伝説化してるのか気になります。インドまで？まさかトルコまで？！

An amazing title for my first post of the year. But it’s true!
Many Chinese people said to my husband, “Psymeg, you’re so lucky to be married with a Japanese wife.” I heard the same thing from a drunken, old Korean guy on the ferry from South Korea to China. He said,”Japanese wife, number 1!”. I’ve also read in a book that Nepali people also think the same thing. And last night a Uyghur man who is teaching us Uyghur also said the same thing. According to them, it’s famous that Japanese wives can do all the house work in an organised manner and obey everything their husbands say. Yes! that’s a LEGEND around them:)!!
But such wives, who like to welcome their husbands while sitting on the floor and bow gently when they come back home, haven’t existed in Japan since after WW2. I’ve never seen my mom do such things. Even my grandmother, who was born before WW2, doesn’t act like this. So I explained to them, “No, no. You can hardly see such women now in Japan.”. But they said, “No, no. Japanese wives are the best in the world!”. They try to protect the legend… As for me, it’s a big pressure!
I think that this legend exist only around Asia, but I wonder how far it spreads around Asia. To India? Don’t say to Turkey!
