Ko（こ）んなにFu（不）思議なCh（チ）キンの話 Klean & Funky Chinese story
鳥インフルエンザが中国、とりわけ私達の住んでいる自治区で確認されつつある近頃、うちのアパートの家々に配布されていたケンタのチラシを見て仰天しました。何と養鶏場での鶏と鶏肉加工場の写真が載っていたからです！
実は日本にいた頃からケンタのCMには疑問を抱いてました。CMでは養鶏場で餌をやる田舎のおっちゃんと店で笑顔を振るまう店員達の姿しか放映されず、客が口にする鶏そのものや加工場風景などは全く目にしません。鶏から加工された鶏肉を想像させると消費者に悪いイメージを与えるからでしょうか。ベジタリアンの私にしてみれば、肉を食う人間ならそんな行程を了承の上で食べるべきと思うのですが…:(
しかし、ここ中国では羽を抜かれ、目ん玉が覗く鶏肉、と言うより鶏の死体や皮を剥がされ血抜きされた羊、豚の頭や鼻、そして何の生き物か分からない動物の死体が市場のあちこちに吊るされているのが日常茶飯事なので、鳥インフルエンザが心配される今なら尚更養鶏場や加工場の安全性や清潔さをアピールした方がよっぽど集客率アップに繋がるんでしょう。と言っても、中国ケンタの今イチ押しはチキンではなく、エッグタルトなんですがね:P
中国ケンタはそんな状況ですが、東京にいた頃、会社の同僚から聞いた噂話に依ると、米国は食物の安全管理がずさんなので、ケンタの鶏は遺伝子組み換えの影響で足が３本あるとかないとか…。中国ケンタのチラシの写真を見る限り、そんな事はなさそうですが真相はいかに？

Recently, avian influenza was found in China, especially in the Autonomous Region where we live, when I saw a KFC flyer handed out around our apartment, I was really shocked. Because photos of a chicken factory and a food-processing factory were shown on the flyer!
In fact I’ve wondered about KFC’s advertisements since I was in Japan. On TV commercial we can see just a redneck farmer handing out at the chicken factory and shop workers smiling at the restaurant, not the chickens its customers eat or its food-processing factories. I wonder because its customers get a bad image to imagine its chickens has been processed from live-chickens. As for me, I’m a vegetarian. and I think if people eat meat, they should know the process and before they eat…:(
But here in China, we often see plucked chickens with boggley eyes, skinned bloody sheep, pig’s heads and noses and unknown animal’s dead bodies hanging everywhere in the markets, so especially now people are suffering from bird flu, if they appeal about the safety and cleanliness of its factories, they might get more customers rather than if they hide what is going on. But for me the most remarkable product in China is their egg tart not fried chicken.:P
Compared with KFC China, according to the gossip from my ex-company mate when I was in Tokyo, because the U.S. doesn’t care about food safety managements, I’ve heard that KFC’s chickens have 3 legs because of GE… As I see the photo of KFC China’s flyer, it wouldn’t be but what’s the truth?
